Finding a Good Thing
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord.” (Proverbs 18:22)
Aureni and I received a great blessing last month with the marriage of our youngest to a good Christian girl. Knowing he now has someone to care for him is always a relief to a mother’s heart. Jonathan has been living in the States far from home since he left for college ten years ago. He studied counseling at ACU and did his graduate work at SMU. He now works as a counselor at a substance abuse treatment facility for teenagers in Dallas.
Catlin was raised in a good Christian home in Wichita Falls, TX. She has a similar background of studies as does Jonathan and now works in social services at a retirement home/short-term rehabilitation center. Thought they worked across the street from each other for two years, they never meet until finding each other online.
While Aureni and I could not attend the wedding, we were able to watch it via live stream. Our middle son and his wife were able to represent us at this special event. The next day the newlyweds traveled to Recife for a one-week honeymoon. Catlin’s parents came, as well. Her parents stayed with us, while the honeymooner stayed at a bread and breakfast nearby. We got to meet Catlin when we last visited the U.S. two years ago, but only now got to know her parents, a fine Christian couple.
After a week of showing them the sights (Jonathan’s home congregation, Lar Mana and Chicken Harbor), Catlin now has a better understanding of Jonathan’s Brazilian side. And his parents feel they too have “obtained favor from the Lord.”
