From learning English to living Jesus

One of the highlights of the School of the Bible is that you get to know people’s stories. You are able to see God working through different people and events to bring together life change that you could not predict otherwise.

Edson with fellow students at the School of the Bible.

Edson, 60, is one of those stories. He approached the School of the Bible because he wanted to learn English. He had heard we offered English as a second language and thought he’d give our classes a try.

While taking an English class, he became familiar with the Bible courses offered. He said that, at the time, he had many questions about life, creation and different Bible texts. He would do most of his searching for answers on YouTube, but he decided to start taking the Bible courses as well.

So he took our classes on How to Read and Understand the Bible, Discipleship, The Book of Revelations and Let the Bible Speak. During these classes he started to regularly attend worship services. That’s when he was approached by one of our young professors, Rodrigo, who asked if he wanted to study the Bible on a more personal level.

Edson, 60, decides to live a new life.

He said that, after taking the courses and studying the Bible, an unexpected conversation with a friend helped him make the decision to surrender his life to Christ. He added that, even though he’s 60, there’s a lot of room for him to grow as a person and learn.

Please pray that Edson keeps the faith and that he shines his light to his wife and son who are not Christians, but are seeing the transformation in his life.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
