Unexpected blessing

John is a long time family friend from the states. Here are some of his thoughts during his visit in Brazil:

It feels like I’ve just arrived in Recife for my annual visit with the Pruitt family, but unfortunately, my time here is already almost gone!

During my first week, I attended the “25th Annual Congresso” for the Churches of Christ throughout Brazil. We studied the beatitudes, sang praises, and enjoyed wonderful meals together. What a joyful time of fellowship, worship, and edification.
For me, the highlight of the weekend, took place on the final day of Congresso, after our Sunday morning worship. Anderson, a young man whom I had befriended, came to me and requested to be baptized!

He and I, with the help of Cleydson our interpreter, had a long discussion about his desires and his beliefs. Once we were sure that Anderson understood the decision that he was making, the three of us made our way into the swimming pool, we took Anderson’s confession and we baptized him for the remission of his sins. As if on cue, the crowd of Christian brothers and sisters that had quietly gathered poolside to witness this new birth, spontaneously joined in song to welcome our new brother into God’s family. What a wonderful privilege and blessing it was for Cleydson and myself to participate in this life changing event for Anderson.

These intimate moments in Christianity form special memories in my heart that I will treasure for a lifetime! I pray that God will continue to guide, guard and direct Anderson’s footsteps throughout his Christian journey!
